Pastor Shawn Brooks is a native of Petersburg, Virginia, and a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. A graduate of Petersburg High School, he enlisted in the Marines at the age of 18 and faithfully served his country for over twenty years, retiring with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
While stationed away from home, Pastor Brooks experienced a life-changing transformation. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and soon after answered the call to preach the gospel. Sharing this decision with family and friends was met with surprise—many thought he had encountered religious fanatics—but the truth was, God had begun a mighty work in him.
His journey of faith began in earnest while stationed in Southern California, where he joined a newly formed ministry. There, Pastor Brooks served faithfully for 16 years, growing in his calling and developing as a leader. Under the mentorship of Dr. Steve Cooper of Nu Way International Christian Ministries, he was licensed, ordained, and served as the church’s first assistant.
Pastor Brooks’ military career was marked by distinction and excellence, including earning the prestigious title of Recruiter of the Year. That experience now fuels his passion in ministry—to continue recruiting, but this time, for the Kingdom of God.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and is deeply committed to serving both the spiritual and practical needs of others. In particular, Pastor Brooks has a heart for veterans and their families, working to support them as they transition back into civilian life through faith-based programs and resources.
Today, as the Senior Pastor of Greater Works Christian Fellowship, Pastor Brooks leads with compassion, strength, and unwavering faith. His mission is to restore relationships, rebuild families, and empower God’s people to live without limits—walking boldly in their calling and doing the “Greater Works” that Jesus promised.
Pastor Brooks lives by example—teaching, building, and inspiring others to live a life of purpose, love, and faith.
